Many homeowners may feel peace of mind with security systems installed in their homes. Companies popular for innovating home technology offer several security system options. If you end up with several products from different companies, you might wonder if you can integrate them to optimize your home’s security.
Ring is owned by Amazon, which means its family of products is designed to work with Amazon’s smart home products, such as Alexa and Echo. Ring Doorbells, alarm systems, and sensors are typically controlled through the Ring – Always Home mobile application. Google Home is the mobile app that serves as a hub for Google’s line of home products, including Google Nest smart thermostats and lighting solutions.
Unfortunately, Ring products do not work with Google Home. The parent companies are competitors and have not integrated their separate systems. Customers with products like the Ring Doorbell or those interested in making their house a smart home, will want to consider committing to a family of products to fully optimize the features they offer.
Erin Lawrence, a journalist who reviews technology and electronics devices on her YouTube channel and at TechGadgetsInternational.com, has attempted to integrate Google and Ring systems, with no luck.
“Despite what some readers might find on the web, as of right now, none of Ring’s doorbells, cameras or lighting have any integration with Google Home,” says Lawrence. “If a user opens the Google Home app and tries to add Ring as a skill, they’ll find the option is not available. Similarly, if a Ring user attempts to locate any type of integration or link with Google inside the Ring app, they won’t find the option to do so.”

The technology journalist says that Google Home users can add devices through the app’s settings, but if you search for Ring products you won’t find them in the app. The same lack of reciprocity goes for Ring, whose account settings allow users to link an Amazon account, but not to a Google account.
An Amazon representative confirmed to BobVila.com that it may theoretically be possible to link the platforms via third-party apps, but “Ring does not have a formal integration with Google Home, and never has.”
Which Smart Home Platforms Are Compatible With Ring?

Customers who enjoy Ring’s family of devices like alarms, security cameras, and smart home remotes will find more success managing their devices through Ring’s mobile app. The app allows customers to watch live feeds from cameras, change settings, and get alerts related to their respective Ring devices. Ring is also compatible with Amazon’s Alexa.
Google Home is a great hub for controlling and monitoring Google-supported devices like the top-rated Nest security system, Nest Audio Smart Speaker, smart light bulbs, smart thermostats, and many other devices in Google’s suite of products.
The smart-home technology of Ring and Google Home can provide users with peace of mind when it comes to their home security. Since the two products were ultimately manufactured by rival companies they were not produced for cohesive use. Customers will achieve more cohesion with their smart home systems by choosing one line of products over the other. Both Amazon’s Ring and Google’s security systems sell surveillance systems complete with video doorbells and other products accessible through their respective mobile applications.
